Something you should know about twitter…

If you start a tweet with @, it’s a direct reply. That means only the twitter user with that handle and anyone who follows both you AND the Twitter user with that name will see the tweet.

So stop saying “@getworryfree made my business successful”!  It doesn’t do us any favors. Say “Hey everyone! @getworryfree changed my life!” Or just “Yo

@getworryfree changed my life”.  Put ANYTHING before the @ so everyone can see your tweet!

Sometimes syncing Outlook with another application or device can result in the addition of a duplicated list of contacts. Removing this list can be quite cumbersome if you take the time to delete each one, especially if you have collected a large number of addresses and such. Here’s a much quicker method:

1. Go to Contacts.

2. Click View, mouseover Current View and select Phone List. This will create a list of all of your contacts in a column based view.

3. Right-click a column header and select Field Chooser from the resulting menu.

4. In the Field Chooser box, use the dropdown and select All Contact fields.

5. Select Created.

6. Drag Created to the Colun Headers to add it to the list. Close the Field Chooser box.

7. Now click on the newly added column header (Created). This will sort all of your items by the date that they were added to your Contacts.

8. Scroll down to the first contact in the list that is to be deleted and select it.

9. Scroll down to the last contact that is to be deleted. Hold down the Shift key and select this contact. This will highlight all of the contacts that you are going to remove.

10. Press the Delete key. The duplicate contacts will be removed.

11. Click View, mouseover Current View and select the view you normally use for your contacts (such as Business Cards).

12. Your Contacts should not display any duplicates.

When you set up Outlook the default location for the OST isn’t always optimal. For many, Oultook puts the data file it on the fairly full C: drive.

Moving the OST

It’s not to difficult to move the OST from the default location to anywhere you want it

Refer to the picture above, and follow the simple steps (don’t forget to restart Outlook when prompted)…

  1. Go into Tools | Account Settings
  2. [A] On the Data Files tab select the data file for the account
  3. [B] Turn off “Cached mode” on the “advanced” tab
  4. [C] Disable “Offline use” on the “offline folder” settings popup
  5. And then…. you can move the .ost (in Explorer) and reference the new location to have Outlook work with it
  6. When you’ve finished don’t forget to re-enable “Offline use” and turn “Cached mode” back on – otherwise you’ll only be able to work when connected to the remote server

When you have finished this process Outlook may spend a moment re-synchronising your local data with the server, but if you have moved and used a recent OST then the process will be no longer than a normal send/receive.

Don’t forget to keep your OST tidy

Like all files that are frequently having data written and deleted the OST can get pretty disorganised. It’s good practice on a regular basis to go to and hit theCompact Now button (visible in [C] above)

Microsoft Exchange Server enables calendar sharing with others who have Exchange accounts. Your calendars can be viewed only by others to whom you have granted permissions. If the other person whose Calendar you want to open has not granted you permission to view it, Outlook prompts you to ask the person for the permission that you need.

After you access a shared Calendar for the first time, the Calendar is added to the Shared Calendars list in the Navigation Pane, where you can access it the next time that you want to view it.

1. Make a new calendar in Outlook:

  • Right Click on the existing Calendar and Choose “New Calendar”
  • Give it a name.
  • The new calendar will show up in your calendar list.
  • This new calendar will also sync to your iOS / Droid devices

2. To share your calendar with another Exchange user:

  • Right click on the calendar and choose “Share” and then “Share Calendar”
  • In the Sharing Invitation that appears, enter the person(s) who you want to share with in the To box.
  • Enter or select any other options that you want, just as if you were sending an email message.
  • The recipient sees an email notification that you have shared your calendar. You can also request that the recipient share his or her Exchange Calendar with you.

This feature requires you to use a Microsoft Exchange Server account. Most home and personal accounts do not use Microsoft Exchange. For more information about Microsoft Exchange accounts and how to determine which version of Exchange your account connects to, contact our sales or service department. You can quickly view another person’s shared default Microsoft Exchange Contacts from the Navigation Pane.

  1. In Contacts, click Open Shared Contacts.

Open Shared Contacts dialog box

  1. Type a name in the Name box, or click Name to select a name from the Address Book.
  2. Click OK.

After you access a shared Contacts folder for the first time, the Contacts folder is added to the Navigation Pane. The next time you want to view the shared Contacts folder, you can click it in the Navigation Pane.

If the other person whose Contacts folder you want to open has not granted you permission to view it, Outlook prompts you to ask the person for the permission you need. If you click Yes, a sharing request e-mail message opens automatically. The message requests the person to share his or her Contacts folder with you and also provides the option to share your default Contacts folder with him or her.

Windows Updates helps to keep your Windows 7 computer up to date with all the security fixes and improvements. It is highly recommended to Turn this On in automatic mode or use some kind of update utility for a smooth Windows experience. Clients who are part of our Worry-Free Office program will have updates automatically applied by our remote management system.

However, if you wish to play with various options of Windows Update in Windows 7 or schedule updates at a more convenient time, here is a guide to explain it briefly.

1. First of all click the Start button to view the Start Menu. Then choose the Control Panel option.

2. The Control Panel window opens up now.

Click the System and Security link from the Control Panel window.

3. The System and Security section of Control Panel opens up. Here you can see the Windows Update link.

As you can see in the above screenshot there are direct links to the important Windows Update options in slightly smaller fonts, such as Turn automatic updating on or off, Check for updates, View install updates .

You may choose the required option directly from here, but we are going ahead to the dedicated Windows Updates section of the Windows 7 control panel by clicking the main Windows Update link.

4. In the Windows Update section of Window 7 Control panel, you can manually look up for any new updates by clicking the Check for updates button under the heading Check for updates for your computer. In order to modify the Windows update option click the Change settings in the left pane.

5. You may change the way Windows 7 downloads and installs updates. Configurable options include Important Updates , Recommended updates , Who can install updates and Featured update notifications .

Important updates provide significant benefits such as improved security and reliability. Recommended updates can address non-critical problems and help enhance your computing experience. Optional updates are not downloaded or installed automatically.

6. Important Updates can be configured in four ways:

  • Install updates automatically (recommended)
  • Download updates but let me choose whether to install them
  • Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them
  • Never check for updates (not recommended)

If you choose Install updates automatically , there are additional options to schedule the update at a convenient time.

or if Never check for updates is selected:

In order to have the same behavior for Recommended updates also tick the Receive recommended updates the same way you receive important updates check box.

You can also choose if you want to allow anyone to install updates by selecting the Allow standard users to install updates check box.

Choose the other options based on your preference and click OK to save the settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

A configured Windows Update window will look like this:

Question:
One of the folders that are shared into my dropbox.com I don’t need any longer, do I just delete it from my files or do I send it back to to them somehow?

Answer:
If you delete it, it will be deleted for everyone. This is the proper procedure.

Right Click the folder and choose “Browse on Dropbox Website”
Then Click “Shared Folder Options” at the top
Then Click “Members” Tab
Then Click “Leave this shared folder”

It may take a few minutes for the folder to go away.

Outlook has features which allow you to preview the files like Word, Excel, Picture files etc. This function allows you to open the files within the preview pane message box and view them.

But how to preview PDF files in Outlook ?

Even though you had installed Adobe Reader 8, you will get a message saying that there is no previewer installed.

Not able to open PDF in Outlook 2007

One thing you can do is to update the Adobe Reader to the latest version which has the built in PDF previewer for Outlook.

If you are worried about the memory consumption of the Adobe Reader then here is a lightweight alternative. You can use Foxit PDF Preview Handler by Tim Heuer to render PDFfiles within the message box in Outlook 2007.

In Elementary school, we were taught the basics of communication with four simple sentence types: imperative, declarative, exclamatory, & interrogative. Emotions are conveyed through these four sentences, so why not put these principles to use in your marketing campaign? Whether you’re making an announcement or engaging subscribers with a survey, you can draw inspiration for messages in every stage of your campaign by remembering your 4thgrade grammar lessons.

  • Declarative sentences are in the form of a statement. For example, a broadcast message such as “Winter is almost here.” or “Kids eat free on Sunday.” These messages should provide information that is relevant to your subscribers and communicate fact. Engage with readers by sending helpful content in addition to sales or alerts.
  • Imperative sentences give clear commands or “call-to-actions”. Directing your customers can be very beneficial to the success of your campaign, especially in the early stages of communications with them. “Click here to sign up.” “Confirm your subscription.” “Add us to your address book.” “Use this link to unsubscribe.”
  • Interrogative sentences are used to form questions. Asking questions is a great conversation-starter with your subscribers because it encourages them to interact with your brand. Surveys and polls are a great way to engage with readers and build better relationships because they show that you value your subscribers’ input.
  • Exclamatory sentences express strong emotion and typically end in an exclamation mark (!). Get your subscribers to act now or pay attention to important information by creating a sense of urgency in your subject line. “Fashionistas, don’t miss this sale!” or “Only hours left to save. Offer ends tonight!” are good examples of this. Note: Exclamatory sentences are only effect when used sparingly. Save these message for information that really counts!

Take-aways:

  1. Decide what you want your subscribers to retain from reading your email and then construct your message so that your intent is clearly illustrated.
  2. Find out what kind of communication works best for you and your readers and engage them by varying your message types (ex. Offer relevant content in your declarative broadcasts and/or engage subscribers with good questions.).
  3. Be sure that your sign-up process is clear and direct.
